Mt. Baker

So fortunate.  Instead of Mt. Rainier, I now get to see glimpses of Mt. Baker while out and about.  The best view in Coupeville is from the Sunnyside Cemetary.

Football Banquet

Jordan getting his football letter at the banquet.  Not quite the big catered affair that KW is, just a little potluck with awards.

 One last cheer!

Bob Engle

Though I didn't personally know Bob Engle, I do know his kids.  He was a forever farmer on the island and he had been sick for years.  He passed away in November and I went to his funeral at the Sunnyside Cemetary with mom and dad.  It was a very moving ceremony.  It rained, and I couldn't hear the speakers, but the procession bringing him to his final resting spot was pretty emotional.  His son, who had his old tractor refurbished so it looked brand new, pulled him on a flat bed just as Bob had wanted.  His casket, wrapped in an American flag.  I can't even begin to fathom how hard it was for Bobby to do that, but that he knew it was the right thing, and what his dad would have wanted.   A lot of farmers formed a tractor processional that was amazing.

There were only a few tractors that weren't of the John Deere genre.  Bob apparently loved his John Deere tractors.  But, Dale Sherman, has a Tonka and he drove it.

Our high school friend Georgie is also a farmer and she had a little red tractor.  Truckers/big rigs also followed in the procession.

Nov 6 football on Vashon

We had a crossover football game on Vashon Island.  We took the Point Defiance ferry over and made a day of it.  I hadn't been to Vashon that I know of. the beaches are....very....Whidbey.  ha!  Imagine that!

 The scenery was gorgeous

We went and saw the famous bicycle that grew into the tree.  Not much left of it...

J was one of the captains.  Vashon ran all over us. Their running back made the news because of how many yards he got against us.  I think it was like 500 or something.  The score was.....lopsided.  And that will conclude Jordan's high school football season.

It was a wet one!!!!!

It poured down rain for Katie's last soccer game.  She took full advantage of her close proximity to LOTS of mud!  Glad I wasn't driving her home!!!

Sight seeing on our way to the airport

Time for the kids to head back to sunny San Diego.  Was a whirlwind weekend for sure!

Drove around and stopped at Deception Pass.  Boy the water was so so green!

Daniel was so surprised there weren't more safety railings on this bridge.  I agree.  The railing is actually quite low.
