Saturday, June 20 we saw Vatican City and Sistine Chapel

The line was ri.dic.ulous!  Thank GOODNESS we were advised to get a private tour!  So, we had one lady and she was all ours.  And, this way we got to see things that you wouldn't have known were there as a normal tourist.

The stairs that the Popes come up

 Looking out over the courtyard

So, I am totally not a history buff but the architecture and art, I cannot even explain the magnitude of it. Just overwhelming and gorgeous!  Pictures could not even begin to do them justice.

Our guide...dang it!  I totally forgot her name.  I really enjoyed her!

 Crypt of someone, amazing carvings

This is a HUGE floor, made of TEENY TINY mosaic tiles!!!!!

This purple marble was of royal families.

Mosaic again.   The intricacy of it and being made so so long ago is amazing.

They had these HUGE beautiful tapestries.

Imagine painting this on a ceiling!  Crazy!!

Friday, June 19 in Rome we did a little sight seeing the first night out and about....

on the balcony of our hotel

All the little alleys look like this.  Just like I imagined.

Scooters everywhere.  People just park everywhere!

We saw all kinds of piazza's

 Guards guarding...something??

 The Trevi Fountain was underconstruction

The streets are cobblestone and teeny little alley's that people drive down for real.

First off....DINNER....where they had every and all kinds of pasta you could ever even imagine!

Eating literally right in the street practically

 UH- MAZING!

 Little gelato treat

Making our way to the Spanish Steps.

Friday, June 19 in Rome< Italy - Hotel Artemide

Unfortunately home life is crazy and David couldn't come to Italy, so he stayed home.  I went along with Thomas and Wendy for the trip of a lifetime.  We arrived in Rome and our hotel right in the middle of town.  Hotel Artemide.

 Italians are big on bidet's

Ingenious idea so as not to waste electricity when people go out all the day.  The lights turn out 30 seconds after you take out your room key.  You don't want to know how long it took me to figure that out...I, for the life of me couldn't figure it out, and then Wendy text and told me how to work it . Ugh....

Free bubbly on the gorgeous rooftop

The lobby was all marble and glass

 Doors from the streets

 Seriously.  The breakfast was divine!!!!
